It is a wonderful trekking around Mount Confinale (3370 m) which is part of the Ortles-Cevedale chain in the southern Rhaetian Alps. It is an adventure that can be completed in two days with 6/8 hours' stops or in three days with 4/6 hours' stops. The recommended period is from mid-June to mid-September. In addition to the views of incomparable beauty, you can see animals such as ibexes, deers, vultures and eagles. The route begins at the Rifugio Forni (2200 m), 5 km above the town of Santa Caterina and continues to Rifugio Pizzini (2700 m) in Val Cedec, then a climb to Passo Zebru (3010 m) where you enjoy a breathtaking 360 ° view of the Val Zebru, Val Cedec and the Ortles Massif. It continues to Val Zebrù following the path halfway; and then to the Refuge Quinto Alpini (2877 m). From the hut you walk down to the huts of Campo, where the trail starts to climb towards the huts of Cavallaro. Here the flat and very scenic path will lead you to the huts of Confinale, the Baite dell'Ables and Rifugio Forni. The view extends to Valfurva, Bormio and Tresero. A little training is required but it is really worth!
